The devices are easy to use, both for professionals and laymen. The measurement of melt flow index can be performed on the pellet / regrind, grind, powder / dry- blend or cut pieces of the finished product (of the size e.g. 0.5 cm). The measurement is made under loading: 0.325 kg, 1.20 kg, 2.160 kg, 3.80 kg, 5.00 kg, 10 kg and 21.6 kg. The devices are compliant with ISO 1133 and ASTM-D1238.

Plastometers of this series are a response to the needs of recycling facilities, which do not always know the technical parameters of the processed raw materials. Meanwhile, the MFI is often used to determine how the polymer will be processed – for example, blow molding will be suited more for the injection, or rather pipe, film or plates extrusion.

SCOPE:

Density is the mass per unit volume of a material. Specific gravity is a measure of the ratio of mass of a given volume of material at 23°C to the same volume of deionized water.

  • Specific gravity = a/[(a + w)-b]
  • a = mass of specimen in air.
  • b = mass of specimen and sinker (if used) in water.
  • W = mass of totally immersed sinker if used and partially immersed wire.
